An exploration in form and texture.
nrfceramics came about as a result of long nourished curiosity for ceramics as a craft and a tool for creative expression. It was born in the mind of a non-stop creator, architect and lighting designer by education, potter by accident.
The project explores varieties of clay and their plasticity, textures and unique character in a tactile and different creative process than the one practiced my daily job as a designer. So far, my work has mostly been about experimenting with production of useful objects in stoneware, but I am intrigued by and looking forward to dive into the world of porcelain, which is characterized by its unique interaction with light.
Since my trip to Japan in 2018, I have been inspired by Japanese concepts and techniques related to ceramics in different ways, such as kintsugi, ikebana and bonsai. That being said, in my free time, if I am not stuck in clay up to my elbows, I will most likely be caring for my plants or figuring out how to fit more of them in my apartment.
I hope you will find nrfceramics inspiring and useful. Please be aware that as with any handcraft, small imperfections might show on some objects. These will however not impact the functionality of the object and are often the most beautiful details that make the handmade object unique and truly yours.
